SO MANY VALVES.
I’ve only ever owned 4-cylinder cars (except for a brief stint with a 325iX) and I’ve recently found myself wanting more, like 5.0 Mustang more. Coming up in the next year or so I’ll be able to pay off the FiST that I bought last year OR I can trade it in and get something loud. I’ll be getting a promotion at the end of the year too which will bring my max car budget up to $40k after trading in the Fiesta. I know it makes more sense to keep the FiST and be 21 with a paid off car but loud noises, RWD, and 400+ HP has a serious appeal to me. Sitting in the new Mustang GT just feels RIGHT and the new Camaro is being slowly revealed and I’m sure it’s going to be damn good and in my price range. But then again I could just not have a car payment for a few years and be much less stressed financially.
Help.
And FiST, I still love you. More than I could’ve imagined I would.

I have been missing a V8 in my life since our family truck got totaled and I bought the FoST. I keep looking up trucks and 5.0L Mustangs because there’s still a void.
A V8 is a glorious thing.

I’ve driven plenty of V8 trucks but I think what really hooked me was the Magnum SRT8. That thing is unholy and I want one.

Keep the fully-paid, fully reliable FiST.
Get a 5-litre Fox Body.
Enjoy the V8, update it at will (who cares if it can’t run for a week? you got the FiST!), and track the living shit out of it.

I can’t wait until I get my v8. It will be surround by a big body sedan, but still a RWD V8 car will be mine!

Depends on the price of the new car and if you can comfortably afford the payments on it. If both of those are manageable then I’d say go for it! V8s are great!
I have a V8 and two 4-cyl (1 gas 1 diesel). I have monthly payments on the Jetta for about a year but the Focus and Yukon are both paid in full.

V8’s are best with 16 valves and one cam and a bowtie.

Do the smart thing. Enjoy a few more years of not having any car payments.
The V8s will still be there for you later.

Not many Fox Body ‘Stangs out here in Germany unfortunately!

And turbos, V8s with turbos are significantly better than V8s sans turbos.

You guys made this glorious bastard, I’m sure you can piece something together.

Oh.
Right (didn’t see the front plate, sorry).
Any affordable New Edge (1999-2004) or SN95 (1994-1998) then? Not as cheap, but the 4.6 is a decent engine.

Go pushrod or go home.

I know the feels. Just paid off the Snuze a few weeks ago, and now I’m itching for a new car. But my wife and I are trying to save for a house so it’s nice not having a car payment. My suggestion to you is save for a year or so and enjoy having monies. As I drive an Auto said... the V8s will still be there for you.

The Roush exhaust for the 2015 Mustang is spectacular.

I grew up on V8s and RWD, the only four pot I sat in was a Peugeot 505 Turbo and a ef civic. I would recommend the rumble of a V8.

Perhaps you could keep the FiST, and buy a used mustang for significantly less, and then you can have fun driving 2 different awesome cars.

I was going to make a joke about getting a 24 valve V8 in reference to that article Patrick posted but then I remembered that there is a 3 valve/cylinder version of the modular engine...

How about an older project car? Old for Mustangs are still cheap and plentiful, even though its nearly impossible to find a stock example. The original 5 litre V8 and a five speed manual. If you have the space, and your better half has no issues, (unlikely, but not impossible), why not? No car payments, no warranty to worry about so modify to your hearts content, and very simple to fix. Super charger? Pro street suspension? get an older one so it doesn’t need to be smogged?
Not sure I’m giving good advice since the last Mustang to enter the garage here left in pieces, leaving its engine in one of the Capris.

Damnit. didnt see this down here. Makes my comment kind of redundant.

D’oh. Just saw Twisim’s comment. How about a V8 swapped Capri?

if you’re only 21, i say go for the 5.0 - i don’t know what the trade-in market on those is like in germany, but i say squirrel away all the money you can, get the 5.0 and enjoy it for those few years in your early 20s where you have far fewer responsibilities!

I’ve got an ‘06 GTO, and I love the thing to death. Big V8, loud, fast, absolute gobs of power and torque. But I can’t even really wind up in 1st gear without speeding, so not as fun as it could be.
I’d say keep the FiST, more fun, and more practical as a plus! Also doesn’t scream “PULL ME OVER!!!!”

I know how you feel. I’ve had several sixes and a couple fours, but that 5.0 GT is singing to me.
But, I got the FoST to have a cheaper car than the S4 that came before, and the GT doesn’t exactly fit that profile.
